The Composition Program will screen a National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) webinar on the use of online tools in the teaching of writing from 4:00 - 5:00 PM, Thursday, September 16 in room 10302, 5057 Woodward. The webinar focuses on using simple, widely available tools, most of which can be used in traditional and/or online courses and will cover core concepts in:
- using asynchronous tools like message boards and blogs, which don’t require all students to participate at the same time,
- creating good prompts, and
- managing online conversations
The webinar will also include sample assignments and a workshop component for developing one’s own assignments. All Department members are warmly invited, particularly part-time faculty who would like to learn strategies for integrating online components into traditional courses. More information on the webinar can be found on the NCTE site.
