This Fall’s first meeting of the Rhetoric Reading Group will take place at 6:30 PM, October 28. The location will be Professor Marback’s residence (16280 Locherbie Ave. in Beverly Hills). Our text will be the John Muckelbauer’s The Future of Invention: Rhetoric, Postmodernism, and the Problem of Change (SUNY Press, 2008).
The Department of English and the Program in Rhetoric and Composition have received funding awards to enhance the use of pedagogical technology in in our current computer classrooms as well as the Writing Center. Notable enhancements already in place include a complete updating of one of our laptop labs (State Hall 335) and the addition of presentation remotes and new projectors for all computer classrooms, as well as software and hardware to augment the Writing Center’s HOOT (hypertext one-on-one tutoring) system. An additional proposal by our new colleagues Lisa Maruca and Caroline Maun also led to the transfer of a laptop cart to the Writing Center and the purchase of new laptops and software enhancements for Writing Center use.
